Pistons Continue Winning Streak with Victory Over Pacers
On Monday night, the Detroit Pistons edged out the Indiana Pacers with a score of 122-117. This win allowed them to match the franchise record for consecutive victories at 13, a mark previously achieved by two teams in 1990 and 2004, both of which went on to win championships. One of those teams featured Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars, while the other was led by Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace.
In this remarkable 2025-26 season, the Pistons now hold a 15-2 record. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren had particularly outstanding performances against Indiana. Cunningham recorded 24 points, along with 11 rebounds and six assists, while Duren contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds.
“It’s amazing,” Cunningham noted. “Playing for the Detroit Pistons, such a storied franchise, makes it special to be part of history.” It really does feel like something significant, doesn’t it?
Remarkably, this is a far cry from the Pistons’ dismal start last season, where they staggered with a 3-36 record. The infusion of young talent from recent drafts, combined with the experience brought in by coach J.B. Bickerstaff, seems to be paying off, providing a much-needed turnaround over the past year and a half.
Cunningham emphasized the need for improvement, even after securing a win. The team had initially been up by 18 points, and he expressed concern about allowing the Pacers to make a comeback. “We shouldn’t have let them get back into the game like that,” he remarked. “If you watch a movie and find it disappointing, you take lessons from it, right? It’s all about getting better.”
Looking ahead, the Pistons have the opportunity to set a new franchise record during an upcoming NBA Cup game against the Boston Celtics.
