The NBA is hoping that Jontay Porter’s lifetime suspension will be the last gambling scandal the NBA has to face.
According to ESPN, the league is discussing changes to the prop bet menu with its sportsbook partners.

“Since states began legalizing sports betting in 2018, we have worked closely with gambling operators and fraud monitoring organizations to implement critical monitoring and reporting systems to identify potential gambling anomalies. “We have put in place the best possible measures to protect the integrity of our game,” an NBA spokesperson said in a statement to ESPN.
Porter was banned for life on April 17 after an NBA investigation found he leaked confidential information to sports bettors and bet on games in violation of league rules. The NBA prohibits players from betting on the league or its assets.

“Another person associated with Porter and known to be an NBA bettor then placed an $80,000 parlay proposition bet at an online sportsbook and won $1.1 million. [Jontay] We will perform poorly in the match on March 20th.”
