Anthony Edwards is a great basketball player and a terrible role model for young people.
The 22-year-old has had a number of jaw-dropping highlights this year, and on Monday night he reacted to his poster dunk in a highly inappropriate way, saying, “Fuck you!” Shouted out. he said into the microphone on the Barrie Sports North station during the postgame interview.

Barrie’s reporters were showing Edwards a replay of his clearly impressive highlight dunk against Kris Dunn of the Utah Jazz.

I like watching Edwards play. He’s a walking highlight reel. At just 22 years old, he has already established himself as one of the NBA’s most notable players and one of its best scorers. He got the Timberwolves within a half-game of first place in the Western Conference. But this is extremely rude in many ways.
First of all, this is disrespectful to Kris Dunn, who is not a superstar but is an NBA veteran and deserves basic decency.
and fans, the second youngest group of sports fans in North America after MLS. according to To Sports Business Journal. There are thousands of young fans, many of them young black fans, who look to Edwards to lead by example. He just set an example that it’s okay to drop N-bombs on live TV, as if civility doesn’t exist in this sport. (Related: NBA players pulled off the funniest jersey swap in history)
It also shows a blatant disregard for the professionalism of the league, his team, and the broadcast team interviewing him. The reporter decided to move past the scene and focus on the highlights instead.
This is not the first time Edwards has displayed poor judgment or immature behavior. In December, he made headlines for cruelly demanding on Instagram that a model he had picked up, “I want you to have an abortion (lol)”.
He is 22 years old. I want to give him a little reprieve. I was an idiot when I was 22 (even more stupid than I am now). But Edwards really needs to take a step back and realize how much of an influence he has on young people and kids watching the NBA. His words have influence. Hopefully he learns it soon.
