NBA Employee Suspended for Celebrating Assassination of Charlie Kirk

The NBA has suspended an employee for two weeks without pay after they publicly celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The league acknowledged in an email that the individual “violated multiple NBA policies.”

In an Instagram Story, the employee referred to Kirk as a “terrible person” and used harsh language to express their views. Interestingly, they claimed that Kirk had no “legacy,” stating that there was nothing positive or constructive about his rhetoric.

After the incident was first reported, the NBA stated it was investigating the matter but offered no updates until announcing the suspension following various requests for comments.

Details surrounding the timing of the suspension and the specific policies violated remain unclear. The league did not respond when asked for clarification.

Kirk, who was shot while addressing college students in Utah, was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former President Donald Trump during a ceremony attended by his widow.

Earlier this month, Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, announced plans to host an alternative halftime show for the Super Bowl, shortly after the NFL announced another artist was set to perform.
