Republican Senator Tom Cotton denied the Arlington fake news story on “Meet the Press.”

“These Gold Star families who have lost children because of the incompetence of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have invited him to the cemetery and asked to have their picture taken because, as they told me yesterday when I spoke with Taylor Huber's parents, Kelly Barnett and Darren Huber, who have Arkansas ties, they can't go to the beach or have a barbecue on Labor Day,” Tom Cotton said.

RVMNews.com:

“But ultimately, senator, is it appropriate to create campaign content in a military cemetery?” Welker asked, discussing the ethical ramifications of such an action.

Cotton responded forcefully, detailing the personal nature of Trump's visit, which was at the request of families of fallen service members. “The president is not taking a campaign photo. Gold Star families who have lost children because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' incompetence invited the president to the cemetery and asked him to take a photo. As I spoke with Kelly Barnett and Darren Huber, parents of Taylor Huber, who have ties to Arkansas, yesterday, they said, they can't go to the beach or have a barbecue on Labor Day. This is their only chance to have a memory to commemorate their children's service and honor their sacrifice. They wanted President Trump to come. They wanted a photo,” Cotton explained.

The senator contrasted Trump's active participation with the absence of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who were not involved in the commemorations at all: “You know who the families invited? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Where were they? Joe Biden was sitting on the beach. Kamala Harris was sitting in her house in Washington, D.C. She was four miles away, 10 minutes away. She could have gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those young men and women, but she didn't. She never spoke to them or met them,” Cotton asserted.

Welker interjected that Biden and Harris met with the families of the soldiers during the dignified transfer. Cotton acknowledged this but countered by highlighting the broader context of the administration's foreign policy failures. “Her and Joe Biden's incompetence has resulted in 13 Americans being killed in Afghanistan,” Cotton concluded, placing full blame for the circumstances that led to the soldiers' deaths on the current administration.

NBC was forced to issue a correction saying Kamala Harris was not present for the dignified transfer.

Fox News reported:

NBC posted a correction on the show's X account after the show aired.

“This morning's broadcast erroneously reported that both President Biden and Vice President Harris attended the dignified transfer of 13 American troops killed during the withdrawal from Afghanistan,” NBC wrote on its “Meet the Press” X account.

“Mr Biden was in attendance, but Ms Harris was not,” the statement continued.
