House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York was shown an old video of himself in an interview Sunday in which he declared President Biden the best candidate to take on President-elect Donald Trump.
“What would you say to Americans who believe you and other Democratic leaders have misled the public?” NBC's Kristen Welker aired footage of herself from February 2024 on “The View.” Later, he questioned Jeffias and said that Biden was “absolutely the best candidate” to run against the current president.
“Well, Joe Biden was the sitting president at the time. He was the candidate at the time, and I was supporting him at the time, and based on the sitting president making the decision to step down, that The right thing to do was run,'' Jeffries said in response to the video.

Jeffries added that after Trump's victory, he wants to look forward, not backward, and focus on serving the American people.
Welker also asked, “Do you think you had a responsibility to speak more openly about what you've been seeing behind closed doors as it relates to President Biden?”
“Behind closed doors, I saw a president working hard to provide for the American people by improving our infrastructure, lowering the high prices of life-saving prescription drugs, and bringing domestic manufacturing jobs back to America. American,” Jeffries replied.
The NBC News host similarly showed footage of himself to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D.N.), claiming that concerns about Biden's mental acuity were “right-wing propaganda.”

“His mental acuity is great. He's fine. It's as good as it's been in years. All the right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity is declining is wrong,” Schumer said in February 2024. ” he declared.
Asked what he would say to Americans who think they are being misled by Democratic leaders, Schumer said: Let's look at President Biden. he has a great record. The bill we passed is one of the most important pieces of legislation since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society, a record 235 judges, and he's a patriot. ”
Mr. Welker then asked Mr. Schumer if he was confident Mr. Biden could serve a second term.

“Well, I'm not going to speculate. Like I said, I think his record is great. He's going to go down in history as a really good president,” Schumer responded.
