NBC News NOW to Expand Programming
NBC News NOW is set to increase its programming to 14 hours every weekday, which includes a new two-hour show hosted by seasoned business journalist Christine Romans.
Romans, who became part of NBC News in 2023 after spending 24 years at CNN, has now been elevated to chief business correspondent. She will be the anchor for a new show at 10 a.m. starting this summer, as announced by NBC News recently.
In a memo to staff, NBC News Editor-in-Chief Rebecca Blumenstein and Programming Executive Janelle Rodriguez noted, “As economic news becomes more pivotal in the daily news cycle, there’s an opportunity to enhance our coverage as markets fluctuate and key stories emerge.”
The streaming service will offer news coverage on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET. They claim this will provide more original programming than any competing streaming news services, further solidifying their position as a key source for live breaking news.
Moreover, NBC News NOW will relocate to Studio 3A at 30 Rockefeller Center, a space that previously hosted MSNBC, which has recently been renamed to MS NOW following its separation from NBCUniversal.
Blumenstein and Rodriguez described the move as “the next phase of growth,” highlighting that NBC News NOW recorded its most viewed quarter in the first quarter of the year. Interestingly, March was noted as the streamer’s best month since June 2025.
The coverage of the Artemis II moon exploration last week reportedly set a new standard for prime-time Friday viewership, as per the memo from executives.
Last November, MSNBC underwent rebranding to MS NOW and transitioned under parent company Versant after Comcast divested its cable assets, which included Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and the Golf Channel.
Versant’s stock saw a 13% drop during its market debut in January, leading to concerns among investors about the traditional TV industry’s viability in the face of streaming’s rise.
