NBC reporter calls out Kamala Harris for saying her ‘values haven’t changed’: ‘Her positions have changed’

An NBC News reporter criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not “explaining why she changed her position” in her first interview as the Democratic candidate.

On Thursday, CNN's Dana Bash explored Harris's various high-profile policy shifts in recent weeks, including abandoning the far-left platforms of her 2019 campaign.

“I think the most important and significant thing about my policy views and my decisions is that my values have not changed,” Harris told Bash.

NBC's Chuck Todd criticizes Kamala Harris for “mistake” in avoiding coverage: “Any missteps” will be “fully scrutinized.”

Liberal NBC News correspondent Yamishe Alcindor criticized Harris for not providing a clear explanation.

“Harris continues to say, 'My values haven't changed,' but has not explained why her position has changed.” Alcindor wrote:.

“Harris is also preparing how she will explain her changing thinking on policies and positions like fracking. A source told NBC News that one way Harris may send a message about that is by explaining that her views have changed since she gained access to the president's daily briefings and traveled extensively during her three years as vice president to speak to ordinary Americans,” Alcindor added.

Alcindor, who has been known to report in support of Biden and Harris in the past, drew backlash online for his blunt assessment of Harris' comments.

“An interview so disastrous that even the administration media must admit it,” posted The Blaze columnist Oron McIntyre.

“What, Bass Yamiche???” exclaimed Habibi Brothers co-host Siraj Hashmi.

“When we lost Yamiche…” wrote Tim Murtaugh, a former communications director for the Trump campaign.

“Mr. Vice President, Yamiche has fallen,” Washington Free Beacon reporter Joe Gabriel Simonson said sarcastically.

Harris waited nearly 40 days after emerging as the Democratic nominee to give an interview, and her reluctance to hold a press conference or give interviews drew criticism that intensified after last week's Democratic National Convention.

The vice president was also criticized for conducting his first candidacy interview with running mate Tim Waltz, the governor of Minnesota, rather than alone.
