NBC Sports may finally have a permanent replacement for Paul Azinger.
Kevin Kisner will be back in the booth next week at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. network may provide According to Golfweek, he is in a full-time role.
According to people familiar with the matter, Kisner will share the duties of lead analyst in NBC’s four-wide system, which consists of two anchors and two analysts.
This potential appearance will mark his third appearance in the NBC Sports booth. Kisner made his debut with Sentry and proved himself at the WM Phoenix Open.
At both events, he won the hearts of fans with his quick-witted and quick commentary that provided great insight into golf. His personality was such that fans bragged about him on social media, which was in sharp contrast to how many perceived Azinger.
Kisner and Smiley Kaufman’s commentary on the par-3 16th at Scottsdale was one of the best moments of the week. His personality resonates with many who watch golf broadcasts.
He is ineligible for this year’s Players Championship due to his struggles in 2023, so this is a great opportunity for the network to get him back on the air.
NBC Sports continues to rotate Azinger’s successor, and Kisner appears to agree.
Kisner will have to decide whether he still believes he can compete and break into the top 50 in the world, or if he believes he can play as a past champion on a limited scale. But if you get the job, at least you’ll have a guaranteed salary.
