NBC late-night host Seth Meyers is calling on Democrats to “grab a rug” and stop acting like they’re holding a funeral for their party following President Joe Biden’s terrible performance in the debate against former President Donald Trump.
“Democrats, pull yourself together,” Myers said in her speech. Learn more “There are still four months to go and they’re already admitting defeat and holding a funeral,” he said on Wednesday’s show.

“Don’t just sit there and be depressed. Do something,” Miers advised Democrats. “If you think Biden should step down, tell him to do so and begin the process of selecting his replacement. If you think he should stay, take action now to right the ship.”
“But this depressing, hand-wringing, I’m-unfortunate-for-you bullshit is really exhausting,” the comedian declared.
“Nobody cares how sad you are. Democracy is at stake,” Meyers added, telling viewers that Trump “want to put his opponents in jail” — an ironic claim considering Trump is the only presidential candidate subject to low-firing this 2024 election season.
The NBC late-night host added, “Whether Biden should stay on and revamp his campaign or step aside and make way for someone else, Democrats don’t seem to be treating the situation with the urgency it needs.”

Miers then cited Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) as recently appearing on MSNBC. Morning JoeThere, she gave no clear answer to a question about whether Biden should remain in the presidential race.
Asked directly if she wanted Biden to run for president, Pelosi replied, “I want him to do whatever he decides to do. That’s the way it is.”
“you guys [Biden] “It’s like the way a frustrated parent talks about their student’s major,” Miers said of Democrats in response to Pelosi’s comments.
Myers later called for Democratic unity, arguing that “there is still time to turn this around.”
