The madness may get even more intense!
College basketball just got closer to an expansion of the iconic March Madness tournament.
Division I conference commissioners were presented with at least two expanded models for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament by NCAA officials on Wednesday. Yahoo SportsOne model adds four teams to the tournament, the other adds eight, and I prefer the latter. Officials have not yet spoke publicly about the proposal.
Currently at 68 teams, the model seeks to expand the tournament to 72 or 76 schools, along with including an additional at-large selection and a different site for the First Four. If expansion were to happen, it would begin as early as the 2025-26 season. And if the men’s tournament expands, the same changes could be made to the women’s version.
The NCAA has taken another step toward expanding the men’s basketball tournament.

There seems to be some aversion and negativity towards the possibility of expansion, and I’m a bit confused as to why.
I can hear the argument being, “With too many teams, it’s not as special to join,” but my counterargument is simple: more teams means more chaos.
And that’s exactly what I’m going to do. More teams, more chaos! I’m in to help scale!
