Nearly 3 Million Crimes Linked to Migrants Since Borders Were Opened

Migrant Crime in Germany: Recent Statistics

Since 2015, when former Chancellor Angela Merkel implemented policies allowing mass immigration, migrant-related crime in Germany has reportedly reached 2.8 million incidents, according to police data.

In response to inquiries from the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a political party critical of immigration, the government disclosed that immigrants constitute a significant proportion of individuals involved in criminal activities.

As per the NIUS news agency, from 2015 to 2024, there were 2,802,915 criminal cases attributed to migrants. If immigration-related offenses are included, this figure exceeds 5.1 million.

It’s worth noting that these figures do not account for permanent residents or those who have attained German citizenship, suggesting that the true impact of immigrants on crime might be even more pronounced.

Alarmingly, the statistics indicate a sharp rise in violent crimes involving immigrants, increasing from 12,512 in 2015 to 26,329 in 2024. Of the total 218,247 reported violent incidents, immigrants are implicated in roughly 33.8%, despite representing only about 20% of the population.

NIUS highlights that Afghan, Iraqi, and Syrian nationalities are notably prevalent among the groups most frequently perpetrating violent crimes.

Furthermore, immigrants have been linked to 11,098 sexual offenses since 2015, alongside approximately 40,000 robberies and 163,625 cases of serious injury. Theft (764,940 incidents) and shoplifting (506,034 incidents) rank as the most common offenses among immigrants.

Interestingly, immigrants are implicated in crimes against native Germans more often than the reverse. In 2022, there were 47,923 crime victims who were Germans, where the suspects were migrants, compared to 12,061 incidents of Germans alleged to have committed crimes against migrants.

In addition to these crimes, Germany has witnessed several terrorist attacks connected to migrants over the past year, with incidents reported in Mannheim, Solingen, Magdeburg, Aschaffenburg, and Munich.

Despite the evident challenges posed to German society by the influx of migrants due to the open-border policy, Angela Merkel has expressed that she does not regret her decisions and would likely act similarly if faced with the same situation again.
