Chili’s sold close to 30 million margaritas in 2025, more than any other restaurant chain, and expects sales to grow further this year. The company is refreshing its drink offerings to keep customers interested, with some diners visiting specifically for margaritas.
Frozen margaritas have been on the menu since 1975, when they cost $1.50. Today, frozen drinks make up about a quarter of the chain’s margarita sales.
Chili’s added premium-liquor frozen margaritas last year. This February, it also launched a Margarita of the Month Club, where customers can track their purchases and collect a digital badge for each monthly drink. The program builds on the chain’s rotating margarita lineup, which began in 2018 and keeps the monthly drink priced at $6.
The monthly options come with different flavors and garnishes. October’s Witches Brew, for instance, was a green mix of Lunazul Blanco Tequila, blue Curaçao and Granny Smith apple syrup, served with a broomstick-shaped stirrer. November’s StrawEddy Marg combined tequila with lemon vodka, strawberry purée and house-made sour mix.
Premium margaritas cost between $10 and $12. The chain also serves a range of other drinks, though margaritas remain its signature offering.
Last month, three customers at a Chili’s in Forest City, North Carolina, suffered chemical burns after a cleaning product was mistakenly used to prepare drinks, according to state health officials. The company said customers and employees were injured and that it was investigating. The restaurant’s permit was suspended briefly before being reinstated.
