Viewer ratings for the first presidential debate were released on Wednesday and showed a big increase from the June debate between Trump and Biden.
According to Nielsen figures, 58 million people tuned in to watch Tuesday's debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, about 6.5 million more than tuned in to watch Biden debate with Trump, the debate that likely signaled Biden's decision to drop out of the race. Tuesday's viewership could rise by about 60 million people once Nielsen completes a more comprehensive tally, according to Axios.
“The NFL's highest-rated opening week game averaged 29 million viewers; the debate drew nearly double that. Now that Harris has replaced Biden as the top Democratic candidate, Americans are paying close attention to the election,” Axios noted.
Donald Trump received some good news after the debate.
