(wisconsin) – Approximately 900,000 Yogi tea bags have been recalled due to excessive levels of pesticide residues, according to details released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Yogi’s parent company, East West Tea Company, LLC, issued a recall 54,846 16-count boxes of Organic Yogi Echinacea Immune Support Tea Bags (877,536 total) were distributed nationwide.
“Organic Yogi Echinacea Immune Support products are being recalled due to pesticide residues detected above standard limits,” the notice reads.
East West Tea Company and the FDA have not issued a full press release regarding the recall, and no information has been released about which specific chemicals may be involved.
According to the report, the recall is also classified as “Class III,” meaning that drinking the tea is unlikely to pose a health hazard. FDA website.
The brand says Yogi’s Echinacea Immune Support (the tea at the center of the recall) contains a blend of echinacea, black elderberry extract, mullein (a flowering plant), and other herbs.
