Negotiations Between UnitedHealthcare and Spartanburg Regional Health Systems

UnitedHealthcare is currently negotiating with Spartanburg Regional Health Systems regarding coverage, as their existing contracts are due to expire in October. This could potentially impact many policyholders’ network status.

In a statement, UnitedHealthcare expressed, “We hope that Spartanburg Regional shares its commitment to reaching solutions that South Carolina families and employers can afford.”

On Wednesday, Spartanburg Regional issued a response, stating, “UnitedHealthcare’s position differs from those of other major national and regional insurers, many of whom recognize the need to increase fees due to rising labor and supply costs. Spartanburg Regional is simply requesting a fair agreement that allows for high-quality care while meeting the needs of our growing region.”

They further emphasized, “Spartanburg Regional values our long-standing partnership with UnitedHealthcare. We continue to strive for effective negotiations and truly hope that UnitedHealthcare reaffirms its commitment to the community ahead of October 14th.”
