Negotiations continue with Palestine protester up Big Ben clock tower | Protest

Negotiators are still working to persuade Palestinian protesters who have climbed up to the Big Ben Barefoot clocktower and come down safely.

So far, the man has been flying the Palestinian flags for over 15 hours from the shelves at the Elizabeth Tower, which houses Big Ben, in the House of Congress. Negotiations are expected to last overnight.

Westminster Bridge remains closed to traffic after a standoff between emergency services and protesters, wearing shoes without shoes and then raising flags.

A large crowd gathered in Congress Square to show support for the man on Saturday. He posted on social media that at 6pm he was safe on the shelf and came down on his own terms when ready.

Emergency services used the aerial ladder platform outside the tower to raise themselves towards the man in an attempt to defeat him. A small team of negotiators then repeatedly began to talk to protesters, but at 10:30pm on Saturday he had not yet agreed to do so.

Two cherry pickers, an ambulance from the incident response unit, a regular ambulance and two fire engines were still on the scene late Saturday.

At one point, the screams of “Free Palestine” and “You're a hero” could be heard from the small group behind the police security guards.

The protester posted Instagram update Around 6pm, I filmed myself threatening to climb higher if negotiators on a platform connected to a fire truck approached. He said: “I will come down on my own terms… I am saying now I am safe. If you come towards me, you put me in danger and I will climb higher.”

Negotiators may need food or water or to use the toilet, and appear to be bleeding from the injured leg. “It feels good,” the protester said. “I'm on a big shelf here. I'm safe.”

He said he stopped the bleeding: “They're a small cut.”

In response, the negotiator said he could see “a considerable amount of blood.” The blood appears to have tainted the shelf where the protesters are standing.

The protester replied: “It tells me if I'm in danger… I'm safe now… You're the one who puts me in danger… If you come towards me, I'm not ready to climb, so I have no choice but to climb higher.”

Conservative MP Ben of Volume said in X that he needed an explanation of how the man entered the parliamentary property.

He states: “Every day in Congress, we see dozens of armed police officers patrol Portalis House and Congress's property. Where were they today?

“On Monday, we need a full explanation to our MPs and staff about how this protester can avoid security very easily.”

As a result of the incident, the Congressional tour was cancelled, a spokesperson said.

The video, which was believed to have been filmed by protesters at 7:20am, showed him climbing a fence around the House of Congress.

Palestinian protesters had planned to gather outside the broadcasting station, the BBC's headquarters in central London on Saturday. Police said the rally would place conditions under the Public Order Act with Jews participating in Shabbat Services at nearby synagogues and risk “serious disruption” to prevent the rally from moving forward.

Palestinian Pulse protest organizers, such as XR, such as Palestine, moved protests outside Downing Street, with many gathering in Parliamentary Square to show their support.

Metropolis police have also been ordered to move Palestinian protesters from Bridge Street to Richmond Terrace to limit protests near Parliament Square to prevent serious confusion.

A spokesman for Met Police said:

“Officers are on the scene working to lead the incident to a safe conclusion. They are supported by the London Fire Service and London Ambulance Service.”

Bridge Street, located at the northern tip of Westminster Bridge, was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident, police said. The Westminster Station exit is also understood to be closed, but there is no confusion in tube service and passengers can use other exits.

A London Fire Service spokesman said: “Firemen are responding to reports of people expanding Westminster Palace alongside Metropolitan Police.”

In the afternoon, a large crowd gathered at the corner of Congress Square to support the protesters. “Tory BBC Workers You are showing Russian crimes, but hide Israel… why?”

The report suggested that the protesters had said “peaceful protesters have been brutally arrested,” saying, “I brought protests to the UK's so-called democratic hub.”

The incident came amid the weekend of pro-Palestinian protests across the country. Activists targeted one of Donald Trump's golf courses in Scotland on Saturday. Palestinian Action Supporters spray painted the Trump Turnberry Resort clubhouse and dug up the green overnight.
