Ryan Routh, the suspect in the attempted assassination of President Trump, has a lengthy arrest record in Guilford County, North Carolina, where he formerly lived in Greensboro.
Routh's arrest history in Guilford County spans the 1980s through 2010, and the charges range from writing multiple bad checks to felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, and in 2002, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, specifically possession of a “binary bomb with a 10-inch warhead.”[ch] Detonation cord and detonator.”
A neighbor who said she has known Routh for about 18 years, since he moved to Hawaii and vacated his Greensboro home at least a year ago, described his family as “weird people” to reporters outside their home, which is next door to Routh's former North Carolina residence.
“He had horses in the house. I mean, he had live horses in the house. But I saw guns and stuff. Those things were just… yeah, it was just weird. But I didn't care. I didn't care,” Kim Mango said.
“I told all my friends because they didn't believe me,” Mhango added.
She told reporters she reviewed photos of Routh, who ran a business called United Roofing in Greensboro, with police on Sunday.
“It's unbelievable. He was a good man, a sweet man,” Mungo said, adding that “his daughter” was like her own and that she would “occasionally” drive Routh's daughter to school but the pair no longer spoke to each other.
She said her family has never expressed strong political views.
Other neighbors who spoke to Fox News Digital said they did not know Routh and were surprised their neighbor was allegedly involved in the assassination attempt.
According to civil court records, after Routh and his ex-wife divorced in 2003, his daughter lived with her father “full time.”
Here's what we know about the assassination attempt on President Trump in Florida.
Their son had been living with Routh's ex-wife.
Neighbors said the suspect's ex-wife now lives with her most recent husband, that the two got along well and were seemingly normal people.
Neighbors said they saw what appeared to be police activity at the home Sunday evening after Ryan Routh was taken into custody following the incident at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach.
In 2009, Routh's ex-wife expressed concerns about his “financial situation” and agreed to waive her child support obligations.
Federal authorities charged Routh with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Further charges may apply at a later date.
Routh's public defender did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
