Neighbor shares unsettling information about 'noisy' altercation before teen son reportedly killed Samantha Baker.

An Alabama mother, Samantha Baker, 37, was allegedly killed by her 17-year-old son, Brandon, following a heated argument over his Facebook posts just hours before the tragic incident. The dispute reportedly stemmed from her complaints about his behavior, a neighbor, Sean Scully, shared with local media.

Samantha was found stabbed multiple times late Sunday outside their home on Augustine Drive in Bell Forest. Scully mentioned that earlier that day, tensions escalated when Samantha attempted to address Brandon’s actions in a fit of anger.

Audio from Scully’s surveillance cameras recorded some of their heated exchange on the porch around 2:30 p.m. He believed their argument was linked to a Facebook post Samantha had made about their family.

According to Scully, during the confrontation, Brandon questioned a specific comment, to which Samantha replied it was merely talk and not aimed at him.

The neighbor speculated that Samantha’s regular posts about her son might have been bothersome to him. “She could be a bit harsh about the kids… especially considering they’re going through typical teenage challenges,” Scully observed.

On the day of the incident, the couple’s 16-year-old son was not present when Brandon allegedly attacked their parents with a kitchen knife, compelling them to flee their home.

On social media, Samantha had shared joyful moments with her family, showcasing them during football games and church activities, often humorously captioning her posts, like one where she shared her “soccer mom” experience.

Yet, some of her online reflections hinted at deeper family issues. In a post for National Sons’ Day, she acknowledged both Brandon’s kind nature and his challenging demeanor. “He’s gentle… until he isn’t,” she noted, balancing praise with a hint of frustration.

In her last birthday post to him, she conveyed mixed emotions, stating he was wonderful yet had the ability to frustrate her deeply. Recently, she had shared memes that seemed to reflect the challenges of parenting, including one that read, “Good parenting is for nice kids. My thugs will be dealt with accordingly.”

Scully mentioned that during their argument, Samantha ultimately told Brandon to complete his chores, which he apparently did without further incident. “I saw him mowing the lawn, so it seemed fine for him to do that day,” Scully added, noting he hadn’t observed any prior arguments between the family since moving in a year ago.

Later that evening, around 9 p.m., both Samantha and her husband, Lance Baker, 46, were discovered with multiple stab wounds. Brandon is now facing charges of murder and attempted murder.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the violence escalated after a separate dispute over discipline within the home. When Brandon grabbed a knife and attacked, both parents tried to escape.

Scully recounted hearing the commotion from their home, describing Lance’s desperate cries for help as they fled. “I can hear two people coming out of the house… it was harrowing,” he recounted, noting how Lance’s screams echoed in the night.

Brandon eventually returned home to call 911, and authorities classified the attack as an isolated domestic incident. He was arrested without incident.

Samantha was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lance was taken to a hospital in critical condition but has since stabilized.

Brandon remains in custody and will be tried as an adult, with bail set at $1 million following his arraignment on Monday.
