Nelly Korda fire finish at the Chevon Championship has sights set on history

Nelly Korda is looking to make history this week at the LPGA’s first major of the year, the Chevron Championship, in Texas.

Korda entered this week having won his first four games. She won the LPGA Drive On Championship in January. After that, she took some time off and returned at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship in mid-March.

She also won that event. Korda went on to win the first Ford Championship and then dominated the T-Mobile Match Play for several weeks.

Annika Sorenstam is the only player to win five straight on the LPGA Tour, having done it twice during her illustrious career.

Thursday was a slow start for the world number one. She hit a bogey on the par-4 10th (her first hole) before making three consecutive pars. But from there she kicked into gear.

He got birdies on the 14th and 17th and finished with a 35.

After hitting a shot on the second par-4, Korda caught fire.

The hottest players on the planet, including Scottie Scheffler, then posted a 4-under 68 with four birdies in the final six holes. She nearly eagled the par-5 eighth (17th), and her putt came up several inches. short.

Despite this, she is tied for second place, two strokes behind fellow American Lauren Coughlin.

On a day when many LPGA stars, including Lexi Thompson, Rose Zhang, Jin Yong Ko and Megan Kang, struggled, Korda rose to prominence once again.

She hopes to have an early tee time on Friday and look to history to set the standard for the weekend.
