News broke a few weeks ago that Sports Illustrated would invite Nelly Korda to model for its 2025 swimsuit edition, but now the world No. 1 has spoken publicly about it for the first time.
After shooting an opening round 4-under 66 at The ANNIKA, she commented on her experience.
“It was pretty cool,” Korda said Thursday.
“We got the call to do it probably about two months ago. We knew we were just coming back from Asia. That was the original plan.”
Korda was forced to abandon his original plans after he withdrew from two LPGA events in Asia due to a neck injury. She revealed that she suffered from a migraine on the Tuesday before the Solheim Cup and ended up taking some time off to recuperate. Luckily, her schedule has cleared up a lot, making it easier for her to participate in photo shoots.
And as she says, the photoshoot was “amazing.”
“It was very embarrassing at first. I'm not used to doing things like that, so it's outside of my comfort zone,” Korda said.
“I think the great thing about these opportunities is that you get to step out of your comfort zone and do something different. I was really excited about the opportunity to do this. I mean, it was pretty cool. The whole crew It was great. By the end of the day, I had so much fun with them.”
Korda had never seriously considered modeling for Sports Illustrated's swimsuit edition, but she thought it would be a fun opportunity.
“I've seen it before, [thought] “It would be great to do that someday,” Korda added.
“I finally got the request and it was fun.”
Her swimsuit modeling caps off a career year that featured an appearance at the Met Gala, six LPGA wins and a Player of the Year award.
