Nelly Korda puts 6th straight win in play amid strong Cognizant Founders Cup round

Nelly Korda continued to play well and continued to compete for the top spot in the Cognizant Founders Cup. The No. 1-ranked player in the world is aiming for her sixth straight LPGA event victory, a feat still within reach after Friday’s round.

Despite the difficult conditions, he posted a 6-under 66 with no bogeys, increasing his total to 9-under for the tournament. Korda is alone in third place, trailing leaders Rose Chan and Madelene Sagstrom by four strokes.

Once again, she proved that no matter the adversity, Korda can pull herself together. impressive round of golf.

“Well, I hit 17 of 18 greens, which helped,” she said. “I tried to go 18 for 18, but I came up short with 17. I hit it well. I can hit it very well off the tee as well. The thick rough and wet conditions can be very tough here. This is very important because of the potential. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my game.”

Korda started the day with back-to-back birdies on his first two holes. She ended up finishing 4 under through seven holes. The 25-year-old played smartly in the wet conditions, adding two more birdies on the 14th and 18th.

“It’s all about staying in the moment and staying present under these circumstances, especially on this golf course,” Korda said. “Sometimes I get too far ahead of myself and put too much pressure on myself and start making mistakes. I stayed in my own little bubble and did a really good job.”

Staying in her own world was her strategy this season, and it worked. Now it’s a joke between her and her sister.

“Jess [Korda] “No matter how many times you say it, it might turn into a drinking game,” she said. “But yeah, I did a good job in that regard, not putting too much pressure on myself and not trying to figure out where I could get an opportunity.”

The 13-time LPGA winner made several long putts to keep her momentum going and keep Chan and Sagstrom within range.

“I knew the conditions were going to be tough so I had to focus on what was in front of me,” Korda said. “It was a really good round in the conditions. I made some really good putts today. Even if I didn’t hit it close, my putts just scared the hole. I’m very satisfied and I hope I can take advantage of that over the next 36 holes.”

Korda is the only player who can reach the two leaders as he will get four shots right away on Saturday.

For now, it looks like Round 3 will be a three-woman race as Korda gives herself the chance to make more history.
