Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directly accused President Joe Biden’s administration of withholding the arms shipments amid the ongoing war with Hamas and strained relations between the U.S. and Israel.
In a video posted to X on Tuesday, Netanyahu said he told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a visit to Israel that Israel was grateful for US support but that it was “inconceivable” that certain weapons had been withheld over the past few months.
“We have no idea what he’s talking about.”
“America’s closest ally, Israel, is fighting for its survival against Iran and other common enemies. Secretary of State Blinken has assured me that the administration is working day and night to remove these obstacles. I certainly hope that is the case, and that should be the case,” Prime Minister Netanyahu explained.
“During World War II, [Winston] “Churchill told the US, give us the tools and we will get the job done. I say give us the tools and we will get the job done much quicker,” he added.
Netanyahu’s video highlights his frosty relationship with President Biden, who has faced fierce backlash from his base over America’s continued support for Israel. After months of far-left protests in the streets and on college campuses, Biden suspended the use of weapons to pressure Israel not to continue certain operations in the Gaza Strip.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Said Responding to the video, the company said: “We have no idea what he’s talking about. We have one shipment suspended, but all others are moving.”
Biden Before Hezbollah’s Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Ahmad told CNN that if Israeli forces enter Rafah, they will stop firing artillery shells and bombs to prevent further civilian casualties. Pressure is also mounting to prevent a second front opening further north, near the Israeli-Lebanese border. Hezbollah has been stepping up attacks for months, targeting towns and starting wildfires.
Netanyahu is scheduled to address Parliament on July 24. Far-left protesters are planning to surround the Capitol building and lock down Washington, DC, during the prime minister’s visit.
