Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings is reportedly the latest high-profile person to call on Biden to resign ahead of the election.
According to the email received, The New York TimesHastings, a prominent Democratic donor, reportedly said Biden needs to step down as a presidential candidate in order to find someone who can beat former President Donald Trump.
“Biden must step aside so strong Democratic leadership can defeat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous,” Hastings wrote.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Hastings for comment.

Media figures who urged Biden to withdraw have remained silent on whether the president will be able to complete his current term.
Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, are prominent donors to the Democratic Party, particularly in California. In 2021, Hastings donated about $3 million to a committee formed to thwart the recall effort against California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.
In 2022, Quillin was one of many people who donated to left-wing groups hoping to block the removal of San Francisco’s liberal District Attorney, Chesa Boudin.
Several media outlets and Democratic Party insiders have also called for Biden to be replaced in the presidential race following his poor performance in the first debate with Trump, including the New York Times editorial board, which called Biden a “reckless bet.”

“Biden has been a great president. Under his leadership, the country is prospering, we’ve begun to address many of Trump’s long-term challenges, and the wounds left by Trump are beginning to heal. But the biggest public act Biden can now do is announce that he will not run for re-election,” the paper wrote.

“There is no reason for the party to endanger the stability and security of the nation by forcing voters to choose between Trump’s shortcomings and Biden’s shortcomings. The stakes are too high to simply expect Americans to ignore or downplay Biden’s advanced age and frailty as they see it with their own eyes,” the editorial board continued.
