Prince Harry's Netflix series is coming, giving fans a glimpse into the world of polo!
The Duke of Sussex's latest project is a documentary about equestrian sports, which he has been involved in since childhood, called “POLO,” and is due to be released in December.
“POLO is a new documentary series that follows the world's best athletes and offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the fast-paced world of sports,” Netflix said in a statement. About X“Produced by Archewell Productions and Boardwalk Pictures. Premieres December.”
The statement was accompanied by four photos from the documentary series, including one of the three polo players on horseback, as well as an action shot of the two players.
Harry, an avid polo player for decades, is expected to star in the new project.
After it was revealed the father of two was working on the project in April, a statement said the series would “give viewers unprecedented access to the world of professional polo.”
The footage was primarily shot at the U.S. Open Polo Championship, held in Florida from March 27 to April 14.
“Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will highlight the grit and passion of the sport, capturing the athletes and all it takes to compete at the highest level,” the statement added.
This comes just months after Meghan Markle finished filming her upcoming Netflix show, which will be themed around cooking and health.
The two new non-fiction projects being worked on with the streaming giant fall within Archewell Productions' deal with Netflix.
The former “Suits” star's show was filmed in a residential area just a few miles from the $14 million mansion she and Harry own in Montecito, California.
The show will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and Markle herself, and is likely to be in collaboration with Markle's new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The brand recently ran into difficulties when its trademark application was rejected.
The Duchess of Sussex's team is struggling to get her new brand approved after the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) warned that companies cannot trademark geographic locations.
She is now reportedly considering a name change for her brand.
In February, Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria revealed what projects Harry and Markle were working on together. Transactions with the platform are estimated at $100 million.
“They are working on some unscripted projects with Brandon. [Riegg, the head of unscripted shows at Netflix]” said Bajaria.
“And they actually have a lot of development going on, they’re developing a movie. [scripted] It's the series that they're working on. It's all in very early development, including movies, TV shows, and some unscripted shows. But yeah, the movies are great.”
