Netflix implements significant update for Field of Dreams airing

Netflix seems to be addressing feedback from baseball enthusiasts over its Opening Day broadcast, which drew a fair bit of criticism.

For the 2026 MLB Field of Dreams game, the streaming service introduced a new scoring graphic. This one was much larger than what was seen during coverage in March, with the Phillies securing a 7-1 victory on Thursday night.

Earlier graphics faced backlash on social media due to their small size, with many fans complaining that the text was nearly impossible to read.

The revised score display now occupies the entire bottom right corner, featuring much bolder text that aligns more closely with conventional on-screen graphics.

Even with these adjustments, some fans expressed their discontent online.

“Really horrible scoring bug,” wrote one user on X. “Looks like you got it from a graphics package from 2007 or so.”

Another person humorously noted, “The Netflix logo is bigger than the player’s name.”

On top of the new graphics, Netflix brought in Matt Vasgersian for play-by-play, while former MLB players CC Sabathia and Hunter Pence took on color commentary roles.

This marks the third Field of Dreams game, following the inaugural matchup between the Yankees and White Sox in 2021.

The Phillies had a solid start, thanks to two home runs from Kyle Schwarber, who now leads MLB with a season total of 37 homers.

Before the game, Schwarber shared his excitement about playing at the Field of Dreams. “I think it’s going to be great,” he mentioned. “I’ve never been there before, so I’m looking forward to seeing the corn and the actual field where it was filmed. It should be really cool to experience that atmosphere.”

He added, “I know they’ll have a lot of different activities and events before the game that will bring back a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of the old days. I think it’s going to be really great and hopefully, we’ll have a good time.”
