Rory McIlroy's divorce bomb with his wife, Erica Stoll, was on display in the season 3 trailer for “Full Swing” on Netflix.
The Docu series, which follows some of the world's top golfers in the race, showed it appears to be trying to escape from Netflix cameras after filing for divorce from Stall in Florida last May.
The following month, McIlroy's divorce petition was voluntarily rejected by a court in Palm Beach County, Florida, where the couple lives with their four-year-old daughter, Poppy. Page 6 It was reported previously.
In the trailer, someone says, “Everyone just started exploding,” before others add “Rolly's Divorce.”
He is then cut into a scene where McIlroy is on the phone, grabbing a duffel bag from the trunk of his car.
“Netflix cameras are following me now,” says 35-year-old McIlroy, while his back is facing the camera.
“I struggled to be the best golfer, the best husband, the best dad,” McIlroy says in his confession.
McIlroy was facing additional pressure to win his first major in the decade when divorce news broke.
McIlroy stated that their marriage was “irreparably broken,” and in his divorce papers sought split custody of him and Stoll's daughter.
Another report by Daily Mail at the time claimed McIlroy and CBS reporter Amanda Balionis was “a story about links.”
McIlroy and Balionis have never mentioned the report.
Last June, McIlroy tackled rumors about his personal life, explaining that he and Stoll had resolved their differences.
“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is a shame. Responding to each rumor is a fool's game,” McIlroy said. I told the Guardian They in a statement released on June 11th.
“Over the past few weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future is together as a family. Thankfully, we are solving the differences and looking forward to new beginnings. ”
The following month, Stoll all smiles and supported McIlroy at the Genesis Scottish Open after his collapse at US Open.
McIlroy looked back on a whirlwind year and thanked his wife after winning the DP World Tour race to Dubai for the third consecutive year last November.
“I've experienced a lot personally and professionally this year. It feels like the end of the fitting in 2024,” McIlroy said, choking. “Look, I've been patient this year, I made lots of close calls and couldn't get it done, so I can get through the line. I got off to a great start. The best in the middle of the round .”
Stoll has not yet publicly addressed the divorce drama.
