Nets beat new-look Heat for first post-trade deadline win

There are no major scorers on the net yet.

Their roster navigated the exit after exit and post-acclimation adaptation while fixed as a year of reconstruction.

The attack relies on a balanced attack against the top opponent. In particular, Cam Thomas, who can drop 30 or 40 points, is still on the sidelines.

But then there are nights like Fridays. The net beat the Heat 102-86 at Barclays Center, holding Miami to just nine points in the fourth quarter.

Then there's stretching like the last five games where the net has four wins when it has the third best defensive rating in the league.

And with all the meshes coming together, the net (18-34) is on Saturday morning as its point guard Ben Simmons is approaching the acquisition amid rumors and distractions from Friday. I wake up. There are 30 play-in tournaments left.

In that decisive fourth quarter, when the Nets removed more than 22 heat, they blocked seven shots in the NBA this season, heading to 13 midway to 13 for the game I did.

According to the team, there was a second mark in the franchise's history, the first since January 2019 shows that it scored more than 30 points in the final frame, allowing under 10.

Nic Claxton collected 12 points and 10 rebounds plus four blocks, while Cam Johnson finished with 18 points and D'Angelo Russell added 17 points.

“It would be difficult to keep a team at nine points in a quarter,” Trendon Watford inherited Simmons' minutes as backup point guard. The game, and we increased it in the fourth quarter. ”

It didn't take long within five minutes of the game for Nets to fall behind in double digits, but they even managed to erase that deficit and lead to the end of the frame behind five three pointers. However, after that, the internet attacks writhe invaded me.

They only hit two more times in the next 24 minutes – and only five more times in the game. Therefore, their attacks had to come from other paths, and perhaps more importantly, they needed their defense to mitigate the threat of scoring the Heat.

That kept them in step with Miami, preventing another, substantial deficit from appearing, and when the fourth quarter arrived they began to pull apart.

“I think the effort was on and off defensively, but then I think that fourth quarter was consistent,” coach Jordi Fernandez said. “Nick and Dalyon [Sharpe] Both did incredible things to be anchors in our defense. Again, communication is aggressive in the press, and it's just contagious. ”

And in the enduring image of the night, Keon Johnson spiked for a dunk towards the basket. The crowd at Barclays' center roared around him, hanging extra on the rim as Russell mimicked the dunking move next to him for more than a minute left.

Of course, that's because Russell blocks the 3-pointer on the other side.

Johnson will be one of eight participants in the 3-point contest on February 15th.

He will become the sixth net player to participate in the contest – and that marks his first appearance, too.

“I saw the three-point contest grow and imagined that I would be there all the time,” Johnson said. “So it's going to be pretty cool.”
