Brooklyn’s injury rash worsened with Cam Johnson being sidelined in Tuesday’s win.
Johnson sprained his right ankle early in the game and did not return.
He limped out of Barclays Center after the game.
Asked by the Post if he planned to undergo ankle imaging on Wednesday, he said he intended to do so.
“Yes, it’s just a right ankle sprain and we’ll evaluate him.” [Wednesday]” Interim Kevin Ollie said. “I think they appreciate him.” [Tuesday night]but there is more information [in the morning]”
Johnson was injured while going down after taking a 3-point shot as Kyle Lowry didn’t seem to give him much space to land.
No foul was called and Johnson continued to play for another minute before limping off the field.
He was quickly removed and finished with 6 points on 2-of-4 shooting in 8 minutes, 15 seconds.
Even before Johnson went down, the Nets had a number of injury concerns that they overcame.
The biggest concern may be backup center Dayron Sharpe. He missed Tuesday’s 112-107 win over Philadelphia with a right wrist contusion, and his future appearances are in doubt.
He was wearing a wrist brace in the locker room.
“He had a scan earlier and we are waiting for the results,” Ollie said.
Sharp was injured in a hard fall with about nine minutes left in Monday’s game against Memphis. He stood up with his hands bent and was ejected with eight minutes remaining, only to return for Mikal Bridges’ final free throw attempt with seconds left.
By the time of Tuesday night’s tipoff, scan results at the backup center were not clear.
“It arrived early today. I don’t know anything about it,” Sharp said in the locker room. “I don’t have any news for you.”
Sharpe ranks second in the league in rebounds per 36 minutes (15.4), behind Andre Drummond (18.6). He ranks third in offensive rebounds per 36 minutes (6.1) behind Drummond and Clint Capela.
Lonnie Walker appeared in the game against the 76ers despite being listed as questionable with a sprained left ankle.
“Yeah, Ronnie’s going to take some vitamins and see if he can go,” O’Ree said before Walker finished with 19 points and four rebounds in 30 minutes.
The sixth man twisted his ankle against the Grizzlies.
Although he walked with an ice wrap and later limped, he expressed confidence to play against Philadelphia, and he did.
Bridges (15 points) shook off what appeared to be a jammed finger.
“I think he’s completely fine now. Our medical team came back during the shootout and didn’t say anything about him,” Ollie said. “So I think he’s fully prepared, ready to play and ready to do his best and lead the team to victory.”
Ben Simmons (back) and Cam Thomas (right ankle/mid ankle sprain) are out.
“[Thomas] It’s just getting better. He has stepped up his training and continues to rely on our medical staff to let us know when he’s ready, but that’s also because he plays an important role,” Ollie said. “But he’s growing a little bit more than before.”
Joel Embiid missed the game against Philadelphia and was not scheduled to be evaluated until later this week.
Robert Covington (left knee bruise) and De’Anthony Melton (lower back injury) were out, and rising star Tyrese Maxey suffered a concussion late in the game.
Tuesday marked Brooklyn’s 10th straight win of the season. The Nets were 5-5 in the first half, but just 2-7 in the last half.
The Nets hit just 17-of-30 from the free-throw line on Monday, or .567, the second-lowest percentage of any team with at least 30 attempts all season. Ta.
This is his worst percentage in a game (30 or more attempts) since he went just 17 of 31 (.548) in a loss to Denver on February 24, 2017.
