The Brooklyn Nets are starting to shape their plans for the 2025-26 season.
On August 14th, the NBA released its schedule, outlining the direction for Jordi Fernandez’s team as they aim to bounce back from last year’s disappointing 26-56 record.
This season kicks off with a matchup against Donovan Mitchell’s Cleveland Cavaliers on October 24th at their home court, Barclays Center. The lineup includes familiar faces like Cam Thomas and Nick Claxton, as well as new additions like Michael Porter Jr.
Fans can look forward to exciting games against rivals, including the New York Knicks (on November 24 and March 20, 2026), the Golden State Warriors featuring Steph Curry (December 29), and LeBron James and Luka Dončić’s Los Angeles Lakers (February 24). This last game is particularly noteworthy as it will see the return of former Net Kyrie Irving.
Excitingly, the upcoming season will also showcase a revamped roster with five first-round draft picks made by general manager Sean Marks this past June:
- No. 8 Pick: Egoldenin, a guard/forward from BYU who averaged 11.3 points per game during the summer league.
- No. 19 Pick: Nolan Traoré, a French point guard with an average of 7.3 points per game.
- No. 22 Pick: Drake Powell, an athletic wing from North Carolina, who missed summer league play due to injury.
- No. 26: Ben Saraf, an Israeli combo guard who averaged 7 points per game.
- No. 27: Danny Wolf, a forward/center from Yale with an average of 10 points per game.
Interestingly, some standout players during summer league play included Drew Tim, who played several games with the Nets last season, and former Laker Quincy Olival, who averaged 16.7 points in a limited summer stint in Vegas. Ty Samuel and Tyson Etienne also made a positive impression.
As part of their preseason schedule, the team will face the Phoenix Suns on October 10 and 12 at the Venetian Arena in Macau, China. They will play their first game against Israel’s Hapoel Jerusalem on October 4th.
