Nets combo guard Keon Johnson's playing time has skyrocketed due to an injury to starter Cam Thomas.
However, he knows that Thomas is not promising anything once he returns.
“Nothing is guaranteed, neither for him nor for anyone else,” coach Jordi Fernandes said. “So the group is working well, there are going to be guys that come in and out of the rotation from time to time.
“If you're out of the rotation, I hope you work hard to get back in. If you're in the second group, try hard to get into the first group.” This is important because it improves the group as a whole. ”
Johnson has averaged 26 minutes over the past seven games, but only 12.6 minutes in his first 17 DNP games.
“Just coming to the game every night and competing hard defensively and really playing hard defensively,” Johnson said.
“Coach Jordi always tells me to keep flying the ball and keep taking shots, and that’s something I keep working on and getting more and more comfortable with. [That’s] That's pretty much it. I just have to keep playing hard and make the game my own.”
Nets forward Ziare Williams injured He is currently back on the court training, but there is no clear timetable for his return.
“He's been doing individual training. He's progressing and doing great, so we'll see what happens next,” Fernandes said. “But he's doing well, it's the next step.”
Williams missed the past three games with a sprained left knee and hasn't played since Dec. 1.

“I don't know [when I’ll play]. Just me being honest. I have no clue. But the sooner the better,” Williams said. “Right now I'm doing a lot of simple things. There's not a lot of movement, but I'm definitely making progress. I'm just listening to the training staff. I'm the type of person who wants to do everything right away, so It's actually holding me back a little bit.
“I'm doing pretty well right now. I haven't had any setbacks, so I should be back soon.”
