Despite starting Nets' past five games, Killian Hayes has not been able to follow his second 10-day contract, the post learned.
The move could be a sign that starting point guard D'Angelo Russell is on the brink of returning to court.
Hayes, a former lottery pick with Detroit, came to training camp with the net, but a hip injury slowed him down.
The 23-year-old eventually signed a G-League deal with Long Island, but they handed Hayes a 10-day deal on February 20th after Net acquired and released backup point guard Ben Simmons.
Since then, Hayes has appeared in all six games and has started the past five times in place of Russell.
He averaged 9.0 points, 5.2 assists and three rebounds in 27.2 minutes.
“We'll talk [about my contract Sunday]but I'm excited,” Hayes said. “I'm excited about this opportunity. I think it was a great time here. I was happy to be back here. So we'll see what happens.”
Hayes' external fire was his Achilles heels, and the Pistons, who took him seventh overall in 2020, let him go.
However, Hayes shot much better as the G-League season progressed and hit .381% from the three-point range of net cameos.

Now he hopes to put enough tape to make an impression and get a look from another 10 days somewhere else or another team.
“I think it's from the first game 1740998193to be comfortable, to play my game and be offensive, it's like my main thing, it's just loose,” Hayes said. “As long as I can get into the paint, let me open up everyone in every shot. That's everything I want to do.”
It is unclear whether Hayes will return to G-League Long Island or if he received an offer from another NBA team.
The net, which has an open roster spot, will return to court in San Antonio on Tuesday.
Russell missed the last five games with a sprain in his right ankle.
He was injured during his February 20th defeat to Cleveland. This was Hayes' debut.
