Nets’ upset dreams crushed by incredible late Thunder run

The net was cruised towards the best victory of the year. They were then routed by arguably the best teams in the league.

The net was on the wrong end of the eye-opening run that spanned the third and fourth quarters, repeating a double-digit lead in a 129-121 defeat to Oklahoma City in front of a 17,926 sold-out crowd at Barclays Center.

After Tosan Evbuomwan's score, Rolling along the 94-81 cushion, Brooklyn coughed an extended 36-9 run that appeared to be dead in 1000 cuts.

By the time that was over, the net was chasing 117-103 in five minutes.

MVP candidate Shy Gilgauss Alexander improved to 46-11 with 27 points, six rebounds and five assists from the Thunder.

Brooklyn, led by 18 people, fell 21-37.

Center Dayron Sharp hit the first eight shots in the first start of Nick Claxton's season, having a career-high 25 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, finishing eight-eight and two-thirds from the deep.

The net hit a season-high 23 3-pointers, but did not match OKC. Already starters Cam Thomas, Dangelo Russell and Noah Crowney are nets that were played without Claxton for the suspension at awful point.
