As the first presidential debate approaches, Biden is looking to share some good news.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has released its latest figures on illegal border crossings, and the numbers show an improving situation.
Since the expiration of the CDC’s Title 42 public health order, the Department of Homeland Security has expelled or returned 775,000 people, and Border Patrol counters have fallen 25% since President Biden’s asylum restrictions were announced, according to the Border Patrol.
At first glance, these statistics look good, but Stu Bruguiere The producers of “Stu Does America” tell us what’s really going on.
He cites a post about X by Fox News’ Bill Melgin, who has covered the border.
“CBP sources say that while numbers are low, 783 escapes were recorded yesterday, a sharp increase from the current seven-day average of 480,” Melgin wrote.
“The bigger picture: We have nearly three weeks of data showing a significant decrease in illegal crossings following President Biden’s executive order earlier this month. Mexico continues to crack down on its side of the border and Texas has closed the border.”
“These factors have combined to result in border crossings now at their lowest after three consecutive years of record-high illegal border crossings under President Biden’s administration,” Melgin continued.
“This is something Biden has done in the past and something he has bragged about very commonly – set a record for the worst performance anyone has ever achieved and then pull the numbers down and brag about the decline. They’ve done this with gas prices, inflation and countless other topics,” Stu commented.
The new border crossing statistics reflect the policies Biden is just implementing, some of the restrictions put in place by Donald Trump that Biden repealed on his first day in office.
“Obviously, he shouldn’t get the credit. He let this disaster happen for three and a half years and finally did what people kept asking him to do,” Stu says. “That’s not how he’ll be explaining it on stage in a few days. He’ll be bragging about these giant falls and how great he did.”
