Colorado law that went into effect on January 1, 2025 requires guns in vehicles to be stored in locked containers.
USA Today reported For the law to take effect: “Handguns stored in unoccupied vehicles in Colorado must be kept in a locked, hard-sided container out of sight, with some exceptions. Vehicles must also be locked.”
Breitbart News points out that a number of new gun regulations will take effect in California on January 1, 2025, including one that will require licensed gun dealers to prohibit prospective gun buyers. It also includes a law requiring people to warn people about the dangers of owning a gun.
USA Today He noted that California's other gun regulations, which went into effect on January 1, 2025, strengthened an existing law banning the purchase of more than one handgun per month. The new law, AB 1483, changes this to “[removing] Exemptions for private transactions. ”
California leads the nation in gun control, and Colorado is increasingly leaning toward adopting California-style gun control. Starting July 1, 2025, Coloradans seeking a concealed carry permit will be required to take an eight-hour training course as part of the certification process.
