Former President Donald Trump is narrowing his list of running mates, with one member of Congress putting his name forward, The New York Times reports.
The outlet reported on Friday that sources close to Trump claim that Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas is quickly becoming the front-runner for the post.
The three unnamed sources The report states: Trump said he values Cotton’s credibility and clear communication of policy.

Trump has kept his plans for a running mate secret since the start of his 2024 campaign, floated different names at different times, and Cotton has been similarly reluctant to confirm or deny rumors about his prospects in a hypothetical second Trump term.
“I suspect only Donald Trump knows who is really on the shortlist,” the senator told Fox News on Monday.

“When we talk, we’ll be talking about what it takes to win the election in November – to elect President Trump to the White House for another term, to elect a Republican Congress and to begin to repair the damage that President Joe Biden’s administration has done to this country,” he said.
Many of Trump’s former foes and rivals are now being floated as potential vice presidential candidates, including Sens. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Marco Rubio of Florida and former North Dakota governor Doug Burgum. Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio has also been mentioned as a possible running mate.
The campaign recently announced that former South Carolina governor and former United Nations ambassador, Nikki Haley, his former primary opponent, is not on the list.
