Donald Trump just survived a second assassination attempt by disgruntled Democrats, who have found a way to blame the former president instead.
“They have long spoken about justified violence against Trump because he is a 'fascist dictator threat to democracy.'” Allie Beth Stuckey Many comments that people can “sympathize with.”
“If that's the case, why wouldn't you want harm to come to him? As others have pointed out, it's one or the other: either he's not actually Hitler and you're comfortable that he's intact, or he's basically Hitler and you don't really feel comfortable that he's intact,” she continues.
Following the assassination attempt, the mainstream media echoed the latter sentiment.
Politico ran a story with the headline “Republicans outraged at possible assassination attempt: 'They will keep trying to kill President Trump.'”
The Washington Post ran a story with the headline “Trump Has New Opportunity to Paint Democrats Dangerous,” while the Intelligencer ran a story arguing that “Donald Trump is a threat to democracy, and to say so is not sedition.”
Another article in the Cincinnati Enquirer argued that “Donald Trump has brought a lot of these problems on himself.”
NBC News' Lester Holt echoed these claims, telling the audience, “Today's assassination attempt comes amid increasingly heated rhetoric within the campaign itself.”
“Mr. Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance, continue to make unfounded claims about Haitian immigrants in Ohio,” he added.
“That's even worse than the question, 'So what was she wearing?'” Stuckey said. “So these were the same people who defended the 'me too' and correctly argued that no matter what a woman has done, a man is never justified in assaulting a woman.”
“But in this case, why has Trump been nearly killed in the last two months? It's because of Trump. Is it because he openly welcomes this violence? No, it's because he disagrees with Democrats,” she added.
