New details emerge about accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann’s seemingly mundane life

Rex Hoyerman, the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer, had a quiet and reserved personality that blended into his Long Island neighborhood, which some found a little “strange,” locals told the Friday Post.

According to shopkeepers and restaurant workers frequented by the 59-year-old, large, married father of two, he led a seemingly unremarkable life, often seen alone around Massapequa Park, and was often seen as polite but strange.

“I worked for him for 20 years,” said a former deli counter employee who requested anonymity.

“[He was] Strange, as always,” she said, declining to comment further.

For decades, Manhattan architect Heuermann came for a trim every three to four months, said Jack Luck, who cuts his hair at a Park Boulevard barbershop.

Luck, 40, said he never said anything about himself, always sat in the same chair and was a good dumper.

“He just sat quietly and waited his turn. He didn’t speak to anyone,” said Luck. “He paid $10 or $15. He was your average tipster. He always paid in cash. After he paid, he thanked me.”

Lack said the murder suspect seemed like a normal man, adding he was stunned to learn that Heuermann was charged with murdering three women last week.

“It was shocking,” he said. “He seems like a normal person. You would never think that.”

Six months ago, Heuermann tried to sell a CD to Infinity Records on Park Boulevard, but was turned down, according to an employee who knows only Corey.

According to the newspaper, grocery store cashiers perceived them as an unhappy family who shop several times a week and pay with food stamps.

Heuermann’s wife, Asa Ellap, 59, often seemed depressed, said store manager Mary Salmeri.

“Maybe his family was so afraid of him that he was like a prisoner who never told anyone, even if they knew something about his abilities,” she told the paper.
