Chick-fil-A Introduces New Beverages and Retro Merchandise

On Monday, Chick-fil-A stirred excitement by launching new drinks and merchandise that draw inspiration from the past.

The Atlanta-based restaurant chain announced via a news release on January 5 that it will be adding frosted sodas and floats to its permanent menu.

These drinks are “handmade at Ice Dream,” which refers to Chick-fil-A’s vanilla soft serve. The company describes the drinks as featuring fountain beverages with a smooth, creamy taste that brings back a retro vibe.

There are three primary flavors available: Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, and Sprite, alongside other options like Fanta, Powerade, Hi-C, and Barks Root Beer.

In addition to these frosted drinks, Chick-fil-A is also hosting the Golden Fun Cup sweepstakes.

As part of this promotion, four “retro-inspired” cup designs that reflect Chick-fil-A’s history will be available for customers to purchase at $3.99 each.

Only 3,000 Gold Fun Cups will be up for grabs, and those who buy a Classic Cup and get a Gold Fun Cup will enjoy free Chick-fil-A food for a year.

The announcement highlights that this celebration pays homage to Chick-fil-A’s 80-year legacy.

Kalila Cooper, who is the vice president of brand strategy, advertising, and media at Chick-fil-A, noted in a statement that this year is more than an anniversary; it’s a time to celebrate the meals, memories, and meaningful moments that have united generations at Chick-fil-A.

On a Reddit forum dedicated to all things Chick-fil-A, fans voiced their enthusiasm for the frosted drinks ahead of their debut.

One user commented, “Frosted Dr. Pepper is amazing.”

Another added, “Hi-C looks promising.”

One more user mentioned that in Southern California, these drinks were tested and described them as “very good,” also noting they weren’t overly pricey.

Yet, amidst the excitement, a few customers seemed less impressed with the new packaging.

One Redditor candidly wrote, “I don’t care [about] packing. Please offer a lower price.”

Another user pointed out a broader issue: “It’s not that bad. But when you can spend the same amount at a fast-casual restaurant for much better food, the choice is clear.”

Some voices from within Chick-fil-A also chimed in with mixed feelings about the new offerings.

One employee humorously remarked, “Now you can make even more complex drinks and desserts!”, whereas another voiced frustration, stating, “It’s such a pain to make.”

Chick-fil-A has been contacted for further comment on these developments.
