“I was sitting on the porch and my dad yelled out that there was an out-of-control boat in the wake,” Prokon told the outlet.

A sailing instructor was giving a lesson to a group of kids on board when he bent down to pick up a tennis ball he was using to show them how to turn.

In that split second, one of the children’s boats capsized onto the instructor’s boat.

The mast of the student’s sailboat struck the boat’s throttle, sending the student flying into the water and causing the boat to spin uncontrollably.

Procon and other residents quickly helped move the children out of danger before the boy hopped on his neighbor, Justin King’s, jet ski and jumped off.

The video shows King getting the boy close enough to the runaway boat before Prokon jumps on board and turns off the engine, putting an end to the chaotic scene.

“I jumped off my jet ski, jumped on his jet ski, and he moved the jet ski over to the boat so I could jump in,” Procon said. Western Massachusetts News.

Fortunately, no one was reported injured in the incident.

The brave boy said he didn’t think about the danger when he jumped and just did what was necessary to end the situation.

“If it had hit that pier it would have bounced off and hit somebody’s house or the pier or people,” the boy said.

Prokon, who is viewed as a hero by locals for putting himself at risk, believes “anyone would do it if given the chance.”

“They call me a hero, but I don’t think I’m a hero,” said the boy, who will be sent to Naval Boot Camp in the fall.

“I think it takes courage to be in any military service. I don’t think what I did was brave, but it was like, you just do it without thinking.”

Lake Winnipesaukee is located about 50 miles from Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
