The Washington County Attorney’s Office in Utah has recently made public an affidavit connected to the rape charges against BYU wide receiver Parker Kingston, as reported by various outlets.
The woman who accused Kingston claimed during a forensic interview last June that she had made it clear in prior online communications that she “didn’t want to have sex” before meeting him. This has been detailed by The Athletic.
Kingston was arrested on Tuesday, and just a day later, the prosecutor’s office revealed that first-degree felony rape charges were filed against him. This follows an alleged incident that took place on February 23, 2025, in St. George, Utah.
According to the attorney’s office, Kingston is accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman, who subsequently reported the assault to staff at St. George Regional Hospital.
In a sworn statement mentioned by The Athletic, the woman noted, “I established clear boundaries with Kingston before we met.”
On February 23, 2025, she stated that Kingston arrived at her home in the early morning, and while watching a movie, he “initiated some sexual activity.” However, he purportedly made it clear that they wouldn’t engage in sex.
As the night went on, she claimed that when Kingston began to drift off, she prepared for bed. It was at that moment, she asserts, that he “started having sex again.” She alleges that she told him to stop multiple times before he raped her.
Kingston, on the other hand, has told investigators that their interactions were consensual, as noted in the affidavit.
Ultimately, Kingston was taken into custody, and the attorney’s office stated he would remain in jail without bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
According to a law firm statement, detectives from the St. George Police Department collected both digital and forensic evidence and also spoke with officials and witnesses.
In response to the situation, BYU released a statement on Wednesday night. They acknowledged Kingston’s arrest and mentioned, “The University takes any allegations seriously and intends to cooperate with law enforcement.” They also noted that, per federal law and their privacy policies, they couldn’t offer more details.
Kingston, a redshirt junior from Layton, Utah, had an impressive performance on the field with 67 catches, 928 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. He also rushed 25 times for 125 yards, scoring three more touchdowns.
It’s worth noting that Kingston is the second BYU athlete to face rape allegations in the past year. Former quarterback Jake Retzlaff, who later transferred to Tulane, was accused of rape, strangulation, and biting in a lawsuit stemming from an incident in November 2023. The lawsuit was dropped in June last year, and Retzlaff did not face any criminal charges, according to ESPN.
