New information in the death of cheerleader Laken Snelling's baby

The situation surrounding the death of Laiken Snelling’s newborn remains unclear. Snelling, a college cheerleader, faces accusations after her child was found in a garbage bag on campus. Reports suggest a former classmate has labeled her a “sequential bully obsessed with appearances.”

At just 21 years old, Snelling, part of the University of Kentucky stunts team, appeared in court wearing a striking red dress and makeup, accompanied by her father. She faces numerous charges related to the shocking incident involving her baby, who died last month.

An autopsy confirmed the infant was a boy, but it did not clarify the circumstances of his death before being concealed. Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn expressed understanding for the community’s concerns and emphasized the thorough nature of the ongoing investigation.

In court, Snelling pleaded not guilty to several charges, including concealing the birth and tampering with evidence. She briefly spoke to accept the judge’s directives, with her father, Terry Snelling, a construction company supervisor, by her side.

Interestingly, a relative of a former classmate of Snelling accused her of relentless bullying during their time at school. This classmate described Snelling as popular but overly focused on her looks, with allegations of past bullying behavior.

According to Sidney Kite, who attended the same high school, Snelling once attempted to run over a friend with her Jeep, leading to the friend’s transfer to another school due to the severe bullying.

Snelling’s family has not yet responded publicly to these claims.

After her arrest, Snelling was permitted to post bail of $100,000 but is under home detention living with her parents. Her preliminary hearing is slated for September 26.
