Former NBA player Lamar Odom was pulled over for speeding at 166 mph in Las Vegas on Saturday. Authorities noted that Odom had bloodshot eyes and trembling eyelids, as reported in a police document.
Officers detected a strong smell of marijuana from Odom’s black SUV, and he acknowledged that he had smoked earlier that day.
The 46-year-old was arrested for DUI after he performed poorly on a series of sobriety tests. He also received two traffic citations—one for exceeding the speed limit by more than 41 mph and another for failing to properly change lanes.
Initially, Odom denied smoking marijuana and suggested that his passenger was the one who had smoked “a little bit.”
The report humorously mentioned that Odom was driving as if he were in the 1980s movie *Back to the Future*.
Add to that, when asked to exit his car, Odom forgot to put it in park, causing it to roll a bit before he could stop it.
According to the police report, Odom exhibited several issues during the sobriety test, including swaying, losing his balance, and repeatedly failing to touch his nose after multiple attempts. They also inquired about any past traumatic brain injuries.
With a chuckle, Odom mentioned, “I had 12 strokes, six heart attacks, and was poisoned in a brothel in Pahrump.”
This comment refers to a well-known incident in October 2015, when he was found unconscious from an overdose at the Love Ranch in Nevada, which resulted in a coma lasting three days and significant health complications, including kidney and liver damage.
Interestingly, he nearly lost his life just three months after finalizing his divorce from Khloe Kardashian.
Odom had a prior DUI arrest in Los Angeles back in 2013, after which he retired from the NBA the following year. In 2021, he disclosed that he was using ketamine to aid in his sobriety journey.
