New Jersey man Sentenced He was charged with murdering his 6-year-old son after a video surfaced showing him abusing him by making him run on a treadmill.
Christopher Greger was sentenced to 25 years in prison for manslaughter and child endangerment.
“He had no love for Corey whatsoever.”
Greger maintained he was innocent in the death of his son, Corey Micciolo, who was rushed to the hospital on April 2, 2021, after waking from a nap slurring his speech, stumbling and feeling nauseous. He died at the hospital after suffering a seizure.
“I want to state categorically that I did nothing on April 2 to cause Corey’s death,” Gregor said in court. “I did not harm my son. I loved him and I still love him.”
But Ocean County Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan cited a video from the gym that shows Gregor forcing his son to keep running on the treadmill, increasing his speed, as the boy falls multiple times and Gregor is seen dragging him up by his shirt and at one point appearing to bite his head.
Gregor faces a possible 40-year sentence, and the judge tried to head off criticism of the sentence by pointing out that the maximum sentence cannot be given to a defendant with little criminal history.
“Despite the public’s perception that this should be the case, in practice this is not the case,” Ryan said.
The boy’s mother said in court that she did not accept Gregor’s apology.
“To this day I don’t believe a word he said and I don’t accept any of the apologies,” she said. “He had absolutely no love for Corey.”
