New Jersey Prosecutor Accused of Child Sexual Abuse Material
A deputy attorney general in New Jersey, Brian Richard Fitzgerald, has found himself in some serious trouble. The 51-year-old was recently arrested and is facing three felony charges related to alleged child sexual abuse material.
Reports from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office indicate that law enforcement executed a search warrant at Fitzgerald’s home in Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania. This action followed a tip received by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children about suspicious activity on the messaging platform Discord, reportedly tied to Fitzgerald.
The investigation revealed that Fitzgerald’s account was connected to the dissemination of illicit material, including what appears to be child sexual abuse material, often referred to as CSAM. According to the press release, police found prompts and scripts aimed at creating pornographic images of children using artificial intelligence. That’s a huge concern, right?
Moreover, it seems that Fitzgerald was active on Discord under the username “thegentlemanpervert_2160_07833.” Reports suggest he openly discussed creating illegal images with AI and sharing them with others. But, to make matters worse, some accusations also involve him sending and receiving explicit images of real minors on social media.
Communication director for the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Manuel Gamiz Jr., mentioned that at least one image referenced in the probable cause is especially disturbing; it features a prepubescent girl and is confirmed to be real CSAM, not AI-generated.
Fitzgerald has been charged with multiple felonies: possession of child sexual abuse material, dissemination of such materials, and criminal use of a communication facility. The incidents are said to date back to July 10, when the tipped activity allegedly occurred.
Judge Corryn Kronnagel has set bail at $2 million, which is quite significant. Fitzgerald is expected to return to court for further proceedings on October 27. Interestingly, there haven’t been any public mentions of an attorney representing him in these documents.
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has acknowledged the situation, indicating they are aware of the charges against their employee and are cooperating with Bucks County authorities, as they consider appropriate actions regarding Fitzgerald’s employment.
Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan emphasized that no one, not even those tasked with enforcing the law, is above it. The office is committed to pursuing such allegations vigorously and holds offenders accountable, regardless of their role.
