New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes suffered a brutal shoulder injury in Sunday night's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Devils were trying to regain at least one goal from the Golden Knights late in their third term. Nico Hisher shot, and Hughes was unable to surround the rebound. Hughes then collided with Golden Knights star Jack Eychel and crashed violently onto the board.

Hughes slid out of the ice as his right arm appeared to be hanging.
“It obviously didn't look good,” Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe said after the game. “We have to take the time to know the fullest extent of it, especially a similar play he called at the beginning of the period.”
Jack's brother Luke Hughes was emotional when he entered the locker room when media gathered to conduct post-match interviews, according to the Associated Press.

Jack Hughes has been a player for the Top Devils since joining the main roster. He led the Devil with 27 goals and 70 points on the team.
New Jersey lost to Vegas, 2-0. The Devils fell to 33-23-6 that year, finishing third in the Metropolitan Division.

The Devils have only made the playoffs twice since losing to the Los Angeles Kings in the 2012 Stanley Cup final.
