New Jersey shopping malls are enforcing old policies in hopes of bringing much-needed changes to business. This means that minors are not allowed to enter unless accompanied by a parent.

Deptford Mall has announced that it will be enforcing its “Parent Accompaniment Policy,” which requires children and youth under the age of 18 to be accompanied by an adult during weekend evening hours.

The policy states that adult chaperones must be at least 25 years old and are responsible for the minor's actions.

“We are committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all of our guests. We reserve the right to limit groups of four or more when unaccompanied by an individual over the age of 25,” Deptford -Township Police Department posted.

Police said these rules would be “strictly” enforced from now on.

Management also added that it will ask for proof of age from both minors and their companions when necessary.

One of New Jersey's largest shopping malls last year began requiring shoppers under 18 to be accompanied by an adult on weekend nights after an increase in nuisance incidents.

Deptford Mall joins several other businesses across the country that are cracking down on minors being allowed on their premises without proper adult supervision.

Chick-Fil-A in Pennsylvania introduced a similar policy in February after unruly “children and teens” continued to cause disruptions.
