New Jersey woman accused of killing her mother by bludgeoning her to death

A New Jersey woman is accused of bludgeoning her mother to death, authorities said.

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday that Brianna Beauchamp, 32, was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Willingboro police were called shortly before 4 p.m. Monday to a report of an assault in progress at a residence on Hopewell Lane in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood.

When police arrived at the home, they found the body of the suspect's mother, singer-songwriter Kim Beauchamp Hanson, 57.

Mr. Beauchamp was temporarily staying at the home with his mother.

She was taken into custody at her home Monday night and booked into the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly pending a detention hearing.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Beauchamp-Hanson was bludgeoned to death.

The Burlington County Coroner performed an autopsy and determined the death to be a homicide due to multiple blunt force trauma.
