New Orleans police have taken another suspect into custody for supposedly helping inmates escape from jail.

Latest Arrest in New Orleans Prison Escape Case

Another individual suspected of aiding an inmate’s escape from a New Orleans prison was taken into custody on Friday, according to authorities.

The New Orleans Police Department reported that four people were detained at a residence, with 28-year-old Emmitt Weber arrested on charges of being an accessory after the fact related to the escape.

Weber allegedly assisted two inmates after they broke out of the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility.

Inmates Arrested in Connection with Orleans Justice Center Escape

Weber marks the most recent suspect apprehended for his role in the escape that occurred on May 16. As of now, five of the ten inmates who fled remain at large.

Corey Boyd was apprehended on Tuesday, adding to the growing list of arrests.

The recaptured inmates include Kendel Miles, Robert Moody, Doken Dennis, and Gary Price.

Additionally, two other individuals, Casey Smith and Colny Harris, have been arrested for allegedly helping with the escape. Another woman, Connie Weeden, 59, reportedly transferred money to Donald via a mobile app.

Louisiana State Police Arrests Third Accomplice in Prison Escape

Weeden faces charges for being an accessory after the fact for a felony.

The following fugitives are still on the run:

  • Renton J. Vanbren Jr., 26, charged with illegal transport of weapons, possession of firearms as a felon, obstruction of justice, and bringing contraband into prison.
  • Jermaine Donald, 42, facing second-degree murder, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm as a felon, and obstruction of justice.
  • Antoine Massey, 32, facing charges related to domestic abuse, including strangulation, car theft, and parole violations.
  • Derrick Groves, 27, facing charges including three counts of second-degree murder and battery against a correctional facility employee.
  • Leo O. Tate Sr., 31, charged with simple robbery, possession of a firearm as a felon, illegal weapon transport, vehicle theft, and multiple drug violations.

Authorities have emphasized that these individuals are considered armed and dangerous.
