New poll reveals which party is more enthusiastic about Biden-Trump rematch

A new national poll reveals that Republicans are much more enthusiastic about a 2024 rematch between President Biden and former President Donald Trump than Democrats or independent voters.

A survey released Monday by the Monmouth University Polling Institute also found that while enthusiasm among all registered voters for a rematch between Biden and Trump remains well below 50%, it has risen 12 points over the past year to 39%. The spotlight is on what is happening.

“Now that these two candidates are the presumptive nominees, enthusiasm for a rematch in 2020 has increased slightly,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Public Opinion Research Institute. “I’m not looking forward to November,” he said.

But polls show clear rifts in partisan enthusiasm.

That number dropped to 36% among Democrats surveyed and 27% among independents.

The poll is also the latest national poll showing a close race between Biden and Trump. Forty-four percent said they would definitely or probably support Trump in the presidential election, and 43% said the same about Biden.

49% said they would definitely not vote for the president, and 48% said the same about the likely Republican presidential candidate.

Eighteen percent of those questioned said they would definitely or probably vote for Democratic Party-turned-independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a longtime environmental activist and prominent vaccine skeptic.

“Support for Kennedy is not very strong even among voters who dislike both Biden and Trump. If Kennedy cannot win decisively with these voters, there will be spoilers in this election. It’s unclear what other role they will play,” Murray said. . “Polling results suggest that the Kennedy effect is minimal. If the current situation holds, he will only act as a spoiler in very close races. Of course. Everything is set up for this election to be just that.”
